The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course consists of two main phases:

Step 1 Knowledge Development

The knowledge development portion of the course is designed to
expand your knowledge of scuba diving depending on you interests.
The Theory consists of five chapters from the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver manual/ Thinking Like a Diver Knowledge Development Section and five corresponding knowledge reviews.
There’s no exam required for the completion of this course.
There are two mandatory chapters – Deep Dive and Underwater Navigation. In the Deep Dive chapter, you learn how to plan dives and how to deal with the physiological effects of deeper scuba diving. In the Underwater Navigation chapter, you will learn more about compass navigation skills and how to better navigate underwater.
You choose the other three chapters, so the other knowledge you get vary with your interest and the adventure dives you have chosen.
You can do the knowledge section at your own pace and when it’s convenient for you. You can complete the academics online, study independent or in our ‘classroom’.

Step 2 Open Water Dives

In this portion of the course you will complete five Adventure Dives from the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course.
The dives in the Advanced Open Water Diver Course are very different from those in your Open Water Diver Course.
The Adventure Dives are similar to a regular dive, except that you focus on a particular diving specialty.
There are two required dives – Deep Dive and Underwater Navigation Dive – In the Deep Dive, you will dive deeper, between 18-30m/60-99ft while dealing with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving.
In the Underwater Navigation Dive you will work on compass navigation skills and practice navigation skills using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time.
You choose the other three dives, for a total of five dives. The other skills you get vary with your interest and the adventures you have chosen. In those dives, you will have a chance to practice what you have already learned in the knowledge development section of the course, while exploring the beauty of the underwater world.
