COURSE INFORMATION

Become a PADI Rescue Diver today and be prepared for stressful situations, so that a small emergency does not become a serious hazard. If you are an Advanced Open Water Diver or an Adventure Diver, have a decent number of scuba dives and are looking for a challenge that will ultimately make you a better diver, the PADI Rescue Diver Course might be right for you. This course will enable you to help yourself and others as you discover ways to not only deal with situations, but to recognize and prevent potential problems. This programme is designed to prepare you to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major, using a variety of techniques. The PADI Rescue Diver Course consists of five knowledge development segments, an exam, Self-Rescue skills, 10 Rescue Exercises, 2 Rescue Scenarios and an Emergency Assistance Plan for a dive site. Through knowledge development and Rescue Exercises, you will learn what to look for and how to respond to dive emergencies. During Rescue Scenarios, you will put into practice your knowledge and skills. After successfully completing the course, you will receive the PADI Rescue Diver Certification. This certification broadens a diver’s awareness and improves their skills and confidence using a variety of techniques. This is the last step before becoming a professional diver. Step 1 Knowledge Development

The PADI Rescue Diver Course consists of two main phases:

The knowledge development portion of the course is designed so you can learn how to recognize and understand the cause of diving accidents and learn how to prevent and manage dive emergencies using a variety of techniques. The course covers a wide range of topics including, The Psychology of Rescue, Recognizing Diver Stress, Accident Management, Assisting Responsive and Unresponsive Divers at the Surface and Underwater, Equipment Problems, Oxygen Delivery Systems, Missing Diver Procedures, Responding to Diver Emergencies and In Water Rescue Breathing. The Theory consists of five chapters from the PADI Rescue Diver manual, five corresponding knowledge reviews and five PADI Rescue Diver Videos. Upon completion you will be given the final exam. You can do the knowledge section at your own pace and when it’s convenient for you. You can complete the academics online, study independent or in our ‘classroom’.

Step 2 Open Water Dives

In this portion of the course your instructor will have you demonstrate skills from Rescue Exercises 1-10 in open water, either with or without initial skills practice in confined water. The Rescue Exercises include: Self-Rescue Review, Tired Diver, Panicked Diver, Response from Shore, Boat or Dock (responsive diver), Distressed diver, Underwater Missing Diver, Surfacing the Unresponsive Diver, Unresponsive Diver at the Surface, Exiting the Unresponsive Diver, First Aid for Pressure-Related Injuries and Oxygen Administration, Response from Shore/Boat to Unresponsive (non breathing) Diverat the Surface. After you will participate in two Rescue Diver Scenarios in open water: Unresponsive Diver Underwater and Unresponsive Diver at the Surface. Finally, you will prepare an Emergency Assistance Plan for a dive site. There, you will have a chance to demonstrate what you have already learned in the knowledge development section of the course.

TO ENROLL

To enroll in a PADI Rescue Diver Course/Junior Rescue Diver Course you must be 15/12 years or older, you need to be in good physical health and have adequate swimming skills. You must hold a valid Advanced Open Water Diver License or Adventure Diver License (or equivalent certification from another organisation) with completed Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive. You must have EFR Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months. Training may be completed along with the Rescue Diver Course.

Takes two to three days to complete the course. Depending on your pace of learning.

Children who are 12 years old or older can participate in the PADI Rescue Diver course

You will need to go through the PADI Medical Questionnaire to see if you are fit to dive. Please download the form through here (PADI MEDICAL STATEMENT). The medical questionnaire has to be completed and might indicate a contraindication to check with your doctor.

Firstly, you should know that diving insurance is mandatory. You can either purchase your own insurance, or you can purchase Divers Alert Network (DAN) insurance from us directly for 15USD per week.

The PADI Rescue Diver Course is tought in English, German, Spanish, French and Bulgarian. The lerning materials are available in wide variety of languages.

In the PADI Scuba Diver Course, you will learn to use basic scuba gear, including a snorkel, mask, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD) and a tank. The equipment you will wear varies, depending upon whether you’re diving in tropical, temperate or cold water.

If you prefer, you can do your theoretical part any time before your arrival. This allows you to study at home before you arrive. You can easily do this at any time by participating in the PADI eLearning Programme. This saves you precious vacation time so you can fit in some other activities too.

We will provide all the required equipment. You simply need swimwear, towel and sunglasses.

If you haven’t dived for over 12 months and you are a relatively an inexperienced diver, then we recommend you complete a refresher programme, such as the Scuba Refresh Programme (link). This can be done on the same day as your PADI Adventure Diver Course. We will practice in confined water to refresh some of the skills you may have forgotten before starting the Course.
